Balancing Valves

Balancing valves distribute the flow through the branches of a heating or cooling circuit in the proportion the design calls for. Without them the branch nearest the pump takes most of the water and the far branches stay cold, so the plant burns more energy than it needs to.

The valve holds its set flow rate as the differential pressure across it changes, which keeps the room temperatures even and lets the pump run at a lower duty point. It can be supplied with a thermo-electric or motorised actuator so that zone control can be added later.
