FM-200 Gas Extinguishing Systems

Gas extinguishing systems are an effective fire fighting method used to put out or bring a fire under control. These systems suppress the fire by discharging a gaseous or chemical extinguishing agent into the fire zone once a fire is detected. They are generally used in electrical equipment rooms, data centres, medical facilities, industrial plants and other sensitive or valuable areas.

The extinguishing agents used are special gases or chemical compounds designed to suppress or put out a fire. They either prevent the fire from reaching oxygen or interrupt its chemical reactions. The most widely used agents are:

• Inert gases (IG-01, IG-100, IG-55, IG-541), which suppress the fire by reducing the oxygen level.
• Chemical clean agents such as FM-200, which interrupt the combustion reaction and leave no residue.
