Pendent Sprinklers

The pendent sprinkler is easy to use and highly reliable. Sprinklers are placed on a purpose-designed pipe network so as to cover the area that needs protection. The liquid in the glass bulb expands with the heat produced by the fire and bursts the bulb. The temperature rating must be chosen 30 °C above the maximum ambient temperature expected. When the bulb bursts, the water under pressure strikes the deflector and is sprayed over the fire. Only the sprinklers that see the temperature rise operate.

Pendent sprinklers are preferred where there is a suspended ceiling or where a downward spray is appropriate. The water spreads downward in a cone and the head can be used with an escutcheon plate.
