Strainers
A Y-type strainer is the device that mechanically removes unwanted solids from liquid, gas or steam lines through a perforated or mesh screen. Strainers are installed in pipework to protect pumps, meters, control valves, steam traps, regulators and other process equipment.
The screen is removed through the blow-down connection for cleaning, so the element can be serviced without dismantling the valve from the line.
